I saw a new story to about how in the town of Pinellas Park Fl, the preforming arts center has just had its two parking lots done over using brick pavers that allow the water to drain through them instead of running off the surface and into storm drains.
The construction of these lots using pavers offer both the home and commercial user an alternative that will save money and help the environment at the same time.
It will come as no surprise that with less water being slammed into a city sewer system cities can spend less time and money having to manage the run-off. The city of Pinellas Park believes the cost of this method will be slightly less then traditional paving when maintenance costs are figured in. Environmentally the water will naturally percolate down to the water table instead of being flushed out into the bay.
I want to give the city a thumbs up for innovative thinking and I’m sure the paver manufacturers are delighted with the project and will be following the progress of other towns and cities as they travel down this cost saving and environmentally friendly path.
Here are PRO Landscape Supply we have a huge selection of pavers including ones that are permeable to allow water to go right through them. We have a wonderful paver garden showcasing many shapes, styles and patterns, so drop by and spend some time walking around our paver garden.
