Spring Tips PDF Print E-mail
  1. Mulch to suppress weeds
a good 2"- 3" layer of real bark mulch helps suppress weeds.

  2. Plant new lawns
with the sun not at its highest angle new lawns won't burn so easily.

  3. Overseed thin lawns
having cooler nights and warm days, this is great weather for overseeding.

  4. Apply an all around fertilizer to lawns
early spring fertilizing gives the grass a nice head start. Try using our 12-25-12.

  5. New plantings in flower beds
with warm soil, this gives plants a chance to grow before hotter months.

  6. A good mulch helps retain moisture
once there is 2"-3" of real bark mulch and the soil beneath is moist it will
    stay moist longer.

  7. Rake off old mulch - retain 1-2 inches
leaving only 1"-2" of old mulch before appling new ensures weeds
    won't grow in old mulch.

  8. Apply slow release lime
this will help lower the acidity of your lawn.

  9. Spray deer repellent - vegtables + plantings
now that the deer are moving into rural areas, you'll want to protect your
investment. These are found at your local garden center or hardware store.

  10. Spread Pre-Emergent
weed control two weeks after initial application (mid May)
apply our 18-0-5 pre-emergent weed control for a greener lawn.
